The Georgia Museum of Art’s docent corps is a specially trained group of volunteers who lead conversation-based tours of the museum’s permanent collection and temporary exhibitions.

Community Docents

Community docents are volunteers from the community who want to learn more about the museum, meet museum visitors of all ages and contribute to the museum community. Docents lead tours, help museum visitors feel welcome and comfortable and facilitate conversations about works of art.

No experience in education or art is necessary, and ongoing training is provided. This program requires a 2-year commitment that includes leading 12 tours a year and attendance at continuing education meetings on two Monday mornings per month during the fall and spring semesters.

Community docent education sessions start in August. Email Emily Hogrefe-Ribeiro at ehogrefe@uga.edu for more information or call 706.542.0448.
